Helping UK drivers pay less at the pump

Price At Pump is a free, independent tool that lets you compare petrol and diesel prices at every fuel station across the United Kingdom — powered by official government data.

Why we exist

Fuel is one of the biggest regular expenses for UK households. Yet for years, drivers had no easy way to compare prices between nearby stations before filling up.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) found that price differences between stations just minutes apart can be significant — families could save up to £4.50 per tank simply by choosing the cheapest option within a short drive.

Price At Pump exists to make that comparison effortless. Enter your postcode, see every station nearby, and know exactly where the cheapest fuel is — before you leave home.

How it works

We pull data directly from the GOV.UK Fuel Finder API, the official government data source for UK fuel prices. This covers 6,957 fuel stations across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Our system syncs with the API regularly throughout the day. When a station updates its prices, those changes flow through to Price At Pump so you always see the latest figures.

We calculate distances from your postcode using precise geocoding, then sort stations by price so the cheapest option is always at the top. You can filter by fuel type (unleaded, diesel, super unleaded, premium diesel) and search radius.

The regulation behind the data

On 2 February 2026, the UK government launched the Motor Fuel Price (Open Data) Regulations 2025, a landmark piece of legislation under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024.

Under these regulations, every fuel retailer in the UK is legally required to report their pump prices to the government. When a station changes its price, it must submit the update within 30 minutes.

The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) enforces compliance and publishes the data openly via the Fuel Finder API — making it possible for services like Price At Pump to give drivers accurate, near-real-time price information.
